Could someone explain what this means and how these hours are paid? Are these hours taken from the employees sick days or are they over and above the sick credits.Had an employee ask for the hour and was told by HR that he would be paid using his sick credits, isn't that what article 38.01 is all about...so what is the benifits to article 38.06 then ?

I believe the intention during negotiations was that these are hours taken from the employees sick days. You don't necessarily have to be sick to take advantage of this, it could be just a regular checkup or physical. Dental checkups and cleanings would also be covered by this. It would be entered into your time sheets as sick credits taken.

The disgusting part of this article is the last sentence, "This arrangement will be on a trial basis for the term of this Collective Agreement only." It's management's way of putting their lack of trust in the employees, in writing.

No, that wasn't the intention. It only applies to 38.06; using sick leave for doctor appointments.

Anyway, it's a meaningless statement because everything in this collective agreement is in effect only for the term of the collective agreement. We can't negotiate beyond the term of the collective agreement!
