Licence Renewal Tests

There have been some questions recently about how employees might be able to write licence renewal tests here at NPC and I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify that.

As you may know, the collective agreement outlines that, where NPC has a qualified instructor, it will provide Z endorsement testing (air brakes) and certification for employees who are required to have this as a condition of employment or wish to increase their qualifications for a position with the NPC. A course may be arranged in the winter season by contacting Karen Konig, Assistant Manager, People Mover System. This is a two day course and can be run with 8-12 participants.

As well, (and as long as NPC has a qualified instructor on staff), NPC is able to provide additional assistance to employees who hold commercial driver’s licences (Class A - F) and/or Z air brake endorsement, in that they may write a renewal test at Rapidsview Complex.  If an employee receives notice from the Ministry of Transportation that a written test is all that is required to renew the licence, the employee may request an appointment with Karen Konig, Assistant Manager, People Mover System and the test will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.   There is no fee for this.
